What is your Why?
Have you ever wondered about your why? Your purpose? Our purposes and “whys” in life can change as we grow older, our relationships change, and our circumstances change. You can also have multiple purposes to address different areas of life. But what is your driving “why” at this moment, why does it matter, and what does this have to do with health and wellness? A lot!
When we understand our own unique driving force, know our purpose, there is order. When we understand this part of ourselves, our environments come into alignment, our circumstances change, and miracles begin to happen.
In working with my mentor, coach, and friend Eddie Villa yesterday, he brought this into total clarity for me. I had to share this with you because it is so affirming and uplifting.
I have always struggled with the “why” in my doTERRA business. Why do I do what I do? Why is it important to me? How can I impart my passion to others about natural solutions to healthcare if I don’t know why it drives me?
For me it goes beyond financial, although that component is there. However, I could have picked a much easier career field. Why did I pick natural solutions to healthcare and a network marketing company? Let’s break it down.
You can’t define your purpose until you have a vision of what you want. I am not speaking about goals nor the path to this vision. I am addressing a vision of a specific accomplishment. For me, it was deciding years ago I wanted to be a keynote speaker at the annual doTERRA convention. I can see myself on that stage in front of tens of thousands of people sharing my knowledge and experience. Not a small vision!
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting our doTERRA founding executive and current President Emily Wright recently. It was by shear accident. She was coming down an escalator with her husband at the Orange County Convention Center, all by themselves. I was at the bottom, so I stood there and waved hello. She smiled and looked at me. I could tell she was quickly searching her mental “files” to see if she remembered me. In response as she approached, I said, “No, you don’t know me, but you will!” Whatever possessed me to blurt that out is beyond me, but I did! Emily was so gracious and engaging. After a few minutes of sharing and laughter she had to be on her way. But she looked back and said, “Kimberley Tyson from Virginia, I will look for you in the future.” Wow! Now my vision escalated into something bigger, and a small step closer to reality. I will be a doTERRA keynote speaker.

I want you to think of a concrete vision you have for yourself. Not an overarching goal. See yourself in your vision. For me, I can see myself presenting; what I am wearing, walking from side to side on the stage as I talk, the lighting in the arena, the seats are full of people just waiting to hear me speak. They want to know what I have to say! And at the end, there is applause.
At this moment see your vision distinctly, clearly. How does your vision make you feel? If you are like me you will feel joy, excitement, maybe a little anxiety, but everything you are feeling is amazing.
Now let’s pull this together. You have your vision, and this is what you will concentrate on. Any steps to get your vision are your “how to” part of the process. You won’t focus on these steps. They are extremely important and play roles in achieving your vision, which is now your concrete why.
Your “how” to get to your vision represents your desires, your strengths, and your goals. For me as a strategic person, I thrive on thinking, learning, and creating. I have the passions to acquire knowledge, to coach, to teach, to mentor, to watch others accomplish great things, and empower those around me. Grow a garden if you will. I realize that my vision of becoming a keynote speaker at doTERRA all hinge on these desires, strengths, and goals. It is why I do what I do, and it makes me whole. My vision creates my ultimate why.
So in conclusion, when you know your why, your purpose, there is joy. You live in your authentic self, can be more to others, incur less stress, and you will move mountains! I believe this ties directly to your emotional health and well-being. And when you feel good, you look good, and it has a direct impact on your physical health.
A topic for another day!
Hugs and Health!
