Forest Bathing… What is it?

Only in the past few months have I learned about the concept of Forest Bathing. The first time I heard of Forest Bathing, my mind immediately went to sunbathing, only because it sounded like it might be familiar. It is!

As you sunbathe, you expose your body the warming rays of the sun, relax, and quiet your mind. When you Forest Bathe you envelope your mind and body in the quiet solitude of the clean, crisp forest environment. You take a walk in the woods.

Beautiful forests are innately relaxing. Forests are cool on a hot day. There are calming sounds of a breeze fluttering through the leaves, birds singing, insects chirping, and animals letting themselves known. The cleansing air is filled with oxygen and positive ions released from the trees.

In Japan, the vast majority of the Japanese live in cities of steel and concrete. There are no parks. The Japanese retreat to the forests outside the cities to become grounded, relaxed, and rejuvenated. Forest bathing is the mindful practice of absorbing the calming atmosphere of natural places like the forest. Connecting to nature for relaxation is not new, but the practice of Forest Bathing originated in Japan in the early 1980’s as a process for disconnecting from technology to relax and unwind.

Here in the US, and many other countries, we are blessed with so much rural and country land and parks. But we don’t all have immediate access to these beautiful resources, and seasonal changes will make beautiful forests austere.

Let me introduce you to Shinrin Yoku. It is a beautiful new essential oil blend brought to you by doTERRA. Shinrin Yoku was developed for the Japanese market, but now available in the US, Canadian, and other markets.

A combination of wood oils and more; cypress, hinoki, patchouli, distilled lemon, geranium, Siberian fir are but a few of the oils name in this special blend. These oils mean this blend is grounding and uplifting.

Remember essential oils have two benefits: emotional and physical. On the physical attribute side Shinrin Yoku aids in circulation and water retention when applied topically. This oil should be in your toolbox!

If you have a doTERRA account this is a must for your next LRP order. If you don’t have a doTERRA account yet, reach out to me at https://kimberleytyson.com to learn more.
