As we embrace the beauty of the holiday season, our hearts are filled with gratitude. But why limit gratitude to just one day? Thanksgiving has come and gone. Let's extend the spirit of thankfulness throughout the weeks to come and explore how daily practices and essential oils can be powerful allies in our journey towards emotional well-being.
Did you know being thankful and grateful is healthy for us? Practicing gratitude is a powerful way to shift your focus toward the positive aspects of life, fostering a greater sense of well-being. Here are 10 gratitude practices, many you can incorporate into your daily routine. For each practice I am giving you my recommended essential oil for diffusing or to apply to reflex points to uplift and open your heart to joy.
✍️ Gratitude Journaling - Take a few minutes each day to write down things you are grateful for. This could include events, people, experiences, or even small moments. Reflecting on positive aspects of your day can cultivate a more grateful mindset. Recommended essential oil: Bergamot- diffusing Bergamot has uplifting and refreshing qualities, is known to promote a positive mood, and may contribute to a more optimistic outlook, enhancing feelings of thankfulness.
🌅Morning Gratitude Ritual - Begin your day by expressing gratitude. Whether through meditation, prayer, or simply taking a moment to consciously acknowledge the things you are thankful for, starting your morning with gratitude can set a positive tone for the day. Recommended essential oil: Peppermint – An invigorating and refreshing scent to begin your day. Peppermint helps stimulate the mind and may contribute to mental clarity, allowing for a more focused and grateful mindset.
🫙Gratitude Jar - Keep a jar or a box where you can drop notes expressing gratitude throughout the year. At the end of the year, read through these notes to reflect on the many positive moments and experiences. What a great way to celebrate a year well done and look forward to the next. 🚶🏽♂️Gratitude Walk - Take a mindful walk, either outdoors or indoors, and focus on things you are grateful for. It could be the beauty of nature, the ability to move, or the company of loved ones. ❸Three Good Things - At the end of each day, identify three positive things that happened. They don't have to be monumental, even small victories or moments of joy count. Reflect on why they made you feel grateful. 🎯Gratitude Board - Create a visual representation of your gratitude by making a gratitude board. Include pictures, quotes, or notes that represent the things you are thankful for. Very much in keeping with a vision board. Display it in a place where you can see it daily. Recommended essential oil: Ylang Ylang – The oil to release the inner child. Creating a gratitude board may seem like something for kids, but it can be fun to do and will remind you each day of your blessings.
📆 Gratitude Challenges - Participate in gratitude challenges. Set a goal to find and acknowledge something you are grateful for each day for a set period of time. Share your experiences with others to create a sense of community. Recommended essential oil: Wild Orange – The oil of abundance will help you think outside the box and inspire you to create and share your gratitude challenge.
😴 Nightly Reflection - Before going to bed, reflect on the positive moments of the day. Express gratitude for the good things that happened, even if the day was challenging overall.
